Dietary

Raw the plant is toxic sometimes mortal.
Early settlers and Native Americans ate the young leaves boiled in 2 or 3 different waters, they also consumed the dried and roasted rhizome ground into flour.

Black Bear loves to eat the young leaves of the plant.
