Dietary

Can be eaten raw, the plant has a taste of asparagus. It is best to consume it only when necessary, as it sometimes causes nausea, but more importantly it contains a small quantity of a potentially fatal toxin, the andromedotoxin that is similar to curare.

Medicinal

The fresh juice of the plant is used to treat inflammatory diseases of the eye.
