Despite its French vernacular names "fresh garlic" or "Mild garlic" the bulb of trout lily has no taste.
Moreover, despite the claim of some, the leaves do not taste the watermelon, just chlorophyll, this false impression is surely due to the appearance of leaves that resemble the bark of a watermelon.
Avoid picking, the plant can take up to 10 years to bloom for the first time.
