Dietary

Fruits, leaves, rhizomes (rootstock) and shoots are edible.
The shoots can be eaten like spinach, you can make an infusion of the rhizome and jelly of the fruits.
The rhizome is used in some root beer recipes.
Very nutritious, the plant can be used as emergency food.

Medicinal

Used as herbal tea for stress relieve, regulator of blood pressure and general stimulant.
A recent study has shown that an extract of the rhizome can be effective against cervix cancer.
