One must inspect the ground almost to his feet in order to discover the small violet.
Territory:
Southern and western Quebec, Bas-du-Fleuve and probably also present in Témiscamingue and Saguenay, therefore absent from Abitibi, Lac-Saint-Jean, Gaspé, Côte-nord and Middle and Far North.

Places not too dry or not too humid (mesic habitats) in the forest. Sometimes along streams or trails.
Flowering:
In bloom in early May until June. The cleistogamous flowers can appear throughout the summer.
