At the time of flowering in mid-spring, White trillium is easily observable because at that time the woods are cleared and more, the White Trilliums often form large colonies.
Territory:
Does not greatly exceed the latitude of Quebec City and is missing in some parts of southern Quebec like the Mauricie region.
Common in the Montreal area.
Habitat:
Rich woods especially in maples.
Flowering:
Flowering in early may.
Similar:
Easily identifiable once in flower, the leaves are similar to those of the Red trillium (Trillium erectum).
From a distance a colony of white Trilliums can be confused with a colony of Bloodroots
(Sanguinaria canadensis) because these two species flower at the same time and in the same environment.
