The Bittersweet nightshade is a very close relative of the tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), moreover its fruit looks like a cherry tomato.
On the other hand the fruit of the Bittersweet nightshade is toxic, at least for mammals, because once ripe it is edible for birds.
It's a plant which we do not meet frequently in Quebec, but more often than the Black nightshade, with edible fruit.
