Territory:

All the west to Abitibi north, in east into the region of Quebec. Absent from the Saguenay, Côte-Nord, Bas-St-Laurent and Gaspésie.

Habitat:

Along the watercourses.

Flowering:

In bloom in July and August.

Similar:

Hard to confuse with another species.
However, there are a variety of Mimulus ringens, the M. ringens var. colpophilus, the Estuary monkeyflower, very rare and almost endemic (exclusive) to Quebec. The Estuary Monkey-flower only frequents the shores of streams with little or no salt and tidal. It is also distinguished by smaller leaves.
