Dietary
From the same family as many herbs such as mint, thyme and basil, the Ground-ivy is aromatic with a mentholated, peppery taste.
Makes a good herbal tea. Has high levels of vitamin C.
Avoid yet to consume in large quantities, as it can become irritating, even toxic.
Toxicity established for horses, dogs, cats and reptiles.
Medicinal
Used primarily as a diuretic (increases urine secretion) Ground-ivy is known to treated bronchitis.
Currently studied for the preventive treatment of cancer and AIDS.
Ornamental
Excellent ground cover, it helps to hold the soil.
Spreads easily from cuttings, prefers partial shade and moist places, but adapted to almost any condition.
Rapid growth, can become invasive.
