Differs from other crucifers (Brassicaceae) with yellow flowers by the following features: fruit (pods) at least three times longer than wide, linear leaves and small flowers (petals 2-4 mm.).
Furthermore the Wormseed wallflower flowers earlier than most other Brassicaceae only surpassed by the Bitter wintercress (Barbarea vulgaris).
The latter is the cruciferous that resembles it the most and its flowering period may overlap with that of the Wormseed wallflower. Blooming in early spring the Bitter wintercress is characterized by pinnate lower leaves (very cut lobes, on the edge of a compound leaf).
