It is found in the same places that most introduced: uncultivated fields, vacant lots, roadsides, etc.

In bloom in May, sometimes late April.
Similar:
Differs from other crucifers (Brassicaceae) with yellow flowers by the following features: fruit (pods) at least three times longer than wide, linear leaves at the top and pinnate lower leaves (very cut lobes, on the edge of a compound leaf) and with small flowers (petals 2-4 mm.).
Furthermore the Bitter wintercress flowers earlier than other Brassicaceae.
The Wormseed wallflower is the cruciferous that resembles it the most and its flowering period may overlap with that of the Bitter wintercress. Blooming in late spring the Wormseed wallflower has linear leaves only.
