Territory:

Wherever man is established, southern Quebec.

Habitat:

Dry places, sharing the habitat of many introduced although Common Milkweed is native. It may be also found occasionally in the forest on the edge of paths or in clearings.

Flowering:

In bloom in july, august, fruits appears in late summer. Pods (follicles) may persist throughout the winter.

Similar:

There are three other species of milkweed in Quebec. They are much less frequent than the Common Milkweed.
The Butterfly Milkweed is easily recognizable by its orange flowers.
The Swamp milkweed is very similar but do not share the same habitat, it occupies wetlands and has a glabrous stem.
Finally, the Poke milkweed, is taller, has few white flowers and leaves less rigid.
