6) Plants
Plants are, if not by the number at least by size and visibility, the essential of a given flora. Is known in Quebec over 3000 plant species, but there are probably much more because three quarters of Quebec territory is largely unexplored and barely known botanically.
Plants have cellulose-based cells, mostly autotrophic ie they get their energy through photosynthesis, hence also their green color. If the majority of species of the plant kingdom reproduce by seeds, some do it by spore (ferns among others), they are predominantly vascular but not all (such as mosses).
Although my site has a large majority of vascular flowering plants, ferns, horsetails, club mosses can also be found.
