The Spreading dogbane is a carnivorous plant, its flowers are remarkable traps in which insects are captured in large numbers.Like all plants of this family it has milky sap, but despite its common names (bane) its harmfulness is much lower, even none, compared to the true Poison ivy (Toxicodendron radicans).
